In addition to unique objects that once belonged to the Württemberg dukes and kings, these collections also include the extensive holdings of the army museum and the state industrial museum. Our collectors' objectives have therefore long been geared towards both local and international acquisitions. The quality and quantity of our overall holdings allows us to provide exhibits for museums outside our main building. Some of the most famous pieces kept in the Old Castle in Stuttgart are the royal crown, which is part of the crown treasure, and the valuables of the ducal “Kunstkammer”. The modern glass collection is one of the best in Europe. Other valuable pieces are the magnificent Renaissance clocks and the Swabian medieval sculptures. And last but not least: the modern Stuttgart glass paintings!
